City honours Safety and Security Directorate staff

The annual awards ceremony returned last night, Thursday 15 December 2022, with many worthy recipients … and a ‘furry’ special guest.

The Safety and Security Directorate's annual awards ceremony recognises the contribution of staff in a number of categories.

These are Officer of the Year, by department, and an overall Directorate winner; Bravery; Outstanding Service; Supervisor of the Year; Team of the Year and Department of the year.

A special award for Outstanding Service was handed over to now retired Chief Fire Officer, Ian Schnetler.

And, the evening was made all the more special by the attendance of K9 Xena, who bagged the Metro Police Department's 'Officer of the Year' title, along with her handler, Constable Clinton Adams.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith delivered the keynote address.
